What you can adjust
There are four things, and they affect each other:
- Bust: the size, and whether it is gel or solid. Both are included in the price.
- Hips and buttocks: the size is included, and gel in the buttocks is +$150
- Waist: this shapes her silhouette more than either of the above
- Height and frame: the base that everything else is built on
A common mistake is choosing the largest bust and hips on a slim frame. That looks good in a photo, but in a room it looks exaggerated, because photos flatten things and rooms don't.
How her proportions look in person compared with photos
We photograph every doll before she ships, so we see each build twice: once standing under the lights, and once through the camera lens. They don't look the same.
Product photos are usually taken from slightly above eye level with a moderate zoom lens. That combination is flattering and it flattens her. It makes the waist look slimmer, reduces the sense of depth, and makes a fuller build look more modest than it is. Nobody is trying to mislead you. That is what the lens does.
At a normal talking distance in a normal room, the same build looks fuller, and the difference is easy to notice.
This is why buyers of curvy builds almost always regret the same thing: they wanted less than the photos suggested, not more. That is the most useful sentence on this page.
What to do about it: ask us for photos taken at eye level and from a three-quarter angle instead of straight on. If you are torn between two options, choose the smaller one. You will look at her from six feet away much more often than through a camera.
Weight, and why it adds up faster than you expect
Larger bust and hip options add material in the worst places for lifting: high up or out wide, and in both cases away from your body when you pick her up.
The range is bigger than most buyers expect. Across our silicone range, the lightest bodies weigh about 26.5 kg and the fullest weigh 49 kg without the head. So a fuller build is not just a few kilos heavier. It can weigh almost twice as much. It also feels heavier than that when you handle her, because the weight sits farther from where you hold her.
Before you choose, read what she really weighs and try the test it describes. Ten minutes with a bag of sand will tell you more than any amount of reading, including ours.
One practical tip: if you are choosing between a taller, slimmer build and a shorter, fuller one of about the same weight, the shorter one is easier to handle. Her weight sits lower and closer together. That isn't obvious from a spec sheet, but it is very obvious on a staircase.
Gel or solid
Gel in the breasts is included. Gel in the buttocks is +$150.
What gel gives you: a softer feel with more give, and natural movement. It shifts as she moves instead of holding its shape.
What it costs you: extra weight, added exactly where a fuller build is already heavy, plus one more boundary between materials inside her.
On a curvy build in particular, gel makes her noticeably harder to handle, because it goes into areas that are already larger. If you are close to the most you can comfortably lift, choose solid. Clothing that fits
Fuller builds are harder to dress, so the two basic rules matter even more here.
Size up, and choose stretchy fabrics. Silicone doesn't squeeze in the way a human body does. Buy one to two sizes larger than her measurements suggest, and expect tops to be harder than bottoms.
Wash new clothing twice. Dye transfer is the most common early regret for owners, and a fuller build has more skin in contact with the fabric, so there is more of it. Storage
Fuller builds get more pressure marks where they rest, because there is more weight on the same area.
